Every device or computer needs to have unique identification when they connect on any network. It is done by assigning each of them a numerical label which becomes their IP (Internal Protocol) address. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) gives IP address globally. IANA works in cooperation with other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) to allocate IP address. These IP addresses are used all devices to communicate among themselves.

IP address is needed for two important functions, identification and a location address. Identification means what we seek and address means where we seek. This way we know when we send data it reaches the right destination whether any computer or device. IP address reveals lots of information. You can trace IP number to its original country, city and zip code. One can also come to know the name of their internet service provider and internet speed. Mainly it provides domain name associated with it. A hacker can find everything from your IP address including your street name. Not only that they can steal and clone your IP address and pose as you on internet

It is very simple to change IP your address. Start your computer and enter MSdos prompt. You can do this clicking on start; click run and type COMMAND. Once when you are in ms dos prompt type IPconfig/release and hit enter. Type exit and leave command prompt.

Next step to change your IP address are as follows

Step 1) Find MY NETWORK PLACES on your desktop and click property, you will find LOCAL AREA CONNECTION and again click PROPERTIES. Under the sub menu of properties click on the GENRAL tab to go to TCP/IP (internet protocol) double click

Step 2) Click on the USE FOLLOWING IP ADRESS, fill the new IP address, which number you fill is not important but remember to fill all the blank space. Next pressing tab will automatically fill SUBNET MASK with default. Click OK twice to go back to LOCAL AREA CONNECTION.

Step 3) Repeat the procedure again by going to PROPERTY and click TCP/IP tab. But now you don't fill anything but instead select OBTAIN IP ADRESS AUTOMATICALLY. Then click OK twice. You will have your new IP address.

Sometime if you get same IP address you restart the modem by first switching OFF and then switching ON. You are ready to surf the net again
